Black Friday isn’t an easy time of year for everyone. While the rest of the world is busy chasing discount codes and half price sales, some people are simply trying to get through the week. If you’re grieving, whether your loss is recent or something you’re still learning to live with, it’s totally okay if the noise of Black Friday feels overwhelming. We get that too.
The pressure to join in, spend money and feel festive can feel completely out of sync with how your heart feels, and we understand that more than you know. So instead of adding to the noise, we decided to do something a little different this Black Friday. We wanted to do something that supports you rather than sells to you… so we created our Letters to Heaven Journal.
Why We Don’t Do Black Friday
We’ve spoken before about why we don’t take part in Black Friday in the traditional way, and if you’d like to know the full story, we have a whole blog dedicated to it. But the heart of it is simple.
We’re a small, family-run business that doesn’t have huge margins to slash. We already keep our prices as low as possible throughout the entire year, so we don’t see the point in putting prices up for the rest of the year just to reduce them for one weekend. We believe our memorial jewellery and keepsakes should be accessible all year round for the people who need them the most.
We also don’t do Black Friday because our keepsakes aren’t mass produced. We can’t take on thousands of orders because every single one is done by hand, engraved, set and polished by real people. They’re made with care by a team that genuinely understands the memories and emotions behind them.
So instead of giving a discount, we want to give something meaningful this Black Friday. We want to give you something that supports you in your grief rather than asking you to buy more, something created with the same love we pour into every memorial keepsake we make.
Our Letters to Heaven Journal
When you lose someone you love, it’s normal to feel like you have so many things you want to say and share, but sometimes, you don’t know how to say them and where to put those words. There will be things you wish you had said, things you wish you could still say and memories you want to relive over and over. That’s why we created the Letters to Heaven Journal, a digital journal exclusive to Inscripture.
This guided digital grief journal offers a safe space to write to someone you miss, whether that’s a parent, a partner, a child, a grandparent, a friend or even a pet. Inside, you’ll find thoughtful prompts, reflection pages, grief quotes and space to write freely, honestly and without judgement.

You don’t need to fill out any forms or include any codes with your order. As soon as you reach the final stage of checkout, your journal will be sent directly to your inbox. This Black Friday weekend, every order placed from Friday 28th November to Monday 1st December will also automatically be entered into a giveaway to win our Memory Candle Urn.

Many families use it during anniversaries, birthdays and even on average Wednesday evenings when they want to feel just a little closer to someone they’ve lost.
