Frequently Asked Questions

What is handprint and footprint jewellery?

Handprint and footprint jewellery is engraved with a real print of someone’s hand or foot, capturing its exact shape and lines. Inscripture’s handprint and footprint jewellery includes necklaces, bracelets and charms, made to celebrate a new baby or growing child, or to remember a loved one by the prints they left behind.

How does the inkless print kit work?

Inscripture’s inkless print kit comes with a special card and an inkless wipe. Wipe the clean, dry hand or foot, then press it gently onto the card to reveal the print, with no ink or mess. Don’t add water to the wipe, and for little ones, try when they’re calm or asleep.

Can I get an adult’s handprint engraved?

Yes, Inscripture can engrave a handprint or footprint of any age, not just a baby’s. Many people choose an adult’s handprint to remember a parent, grandparent or partner, as the shape of a hand that held yours can be one of the most comforting keepsakes of all.

Can I have more than one print on my jewellery?

Yes, you can include more than one print. Some Inscripture designs feature two charms, so you could have a handprint on one and a footprint on the other, or a print from each child. Many pieces can also be engraved on the back, giving you space for a second print or a name.

How much detail will the engraving show?

The engraving follows the outline and the lines that show clearly in your print, so a crisp, even print gives the most detail. Smaller pieces such as charms show the shape beautifully, while larger pendants leave more room for finer lines. Inscripture’s team checks every print before engraving begins.
